Case Study 2
As organisation structures grow the risk of not complying with ever changing employment legislation becomes greater.
An environmental engineering organisation had to recruit staff to work in the UK and travel overseas, some of these would only be required to work when specific stages of projects were reached. The MD was concerned that his current contracts of employment were not robust enough and therefore leave the company open to litigation.
The Outcome
An HR audit was carried out to gain an understanding of the organisation and recommendations made.
This resulted in the introduction of updated contracts of employment in a number of forms, including zero hour’s contracts and greater levels of protection with tough non-competition clauses.
An employment handbook was also developed and introduced to standardise the principles of employment including working overseas.
